Staff Looking After You

On a typical morning shift there are 4 carers, 2 domestics, 1 cook/chef, 1 maintenance staff member, and management staff on site. In the afternoons we have 3 carers and 1 cook/chef on duty. At night there are 2 carers awake for the whole night.

Qualified Staff and Training

At present we have 60% NVQ 2 or above trained staff, exceeding the requirements for this area. All new staff have an induction prior to starting work and then a probation period of 3 months, meeting the national requirements. The staff are trained and reviewed in Health and Safety, Moving and Handling, Infection Control, Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) First Aid, Dementia Care, Palliative Care and Safeguarding and the Deprivation of Liberty which links up to the Mental Capacity Act 2005. Fire training is undertaken 3 monthly for night staff and 6 monthly for day staff. We carry out regular supervision of staff and appraisals to review their skills and understanding of the training given, this also allows for more training needs to be identified and acted on.

Family Connections

We are very fortunate to have several generations of the same family working at Nyton House, and have done so in some cases since leaving school. Our team is very friendly and we have a happy working atmosphere, hence we can retain the levels of experienced staff in our home.
We are happy to carry out a courtesy visit along with a pre-admission assessment for prospective clients. We can take permanent placements and respite stays, and are open to discussing individual clients' needs and expectations.
